A report online by a unanimous reporter said 8 months of salaries are still owed the former players of Heartland FC Owerri!
This is a very painful situation that the LMC has not been able to handle until the season is about to start again.
WILL HEARTLAND DISGRACE THE LMC AGAIN?
This is one of the main things that discredit the NPFL. Players of the NPFL generally are treated and considered as one of the poorest in the world. When clubs or a management such as Heartland isn’t able to solve such a basic problem then there shouldn’t be any way they are allowed to purchase a license in the new season. If you consider ‘the club’ then you hate football players. There are issues you consider but not this.
This is supposed to be a basic prerequisite for clubs registration in every new season. This is where the LMC can prove that they have started raising their standards. Please, don’t turn and make these players protesting to become scapegoats. We all played different leagues around the world and we agree that holding back the wages of players and officials is one of the most disgusting things that should happen in football.
IS GOVERNMENT TO BE HELD RESPONSIBLE FOR THE CASE OF HEARTLAND?
We agree that the government is the one running football in Nigeria. Our football experts must sit the governments down and lecture them on how it is acceptable in the football circle. Don’t tell them we can manage and make it happen since managing it means the government would be feeding on those finances and the club management would be disgraced all over the world meaning; government failed in the area of sports too.
CORRUPTION?
Yes, it is possible some people might have collected those money and never paid the players. Since it is the government running football, then the players have to be paid before the right instruments are inaugurated to recover those money from those criminal managements. Government can make this happen but the Imo state government doesn’t want to make this happen for football players in its state. They don’t want to kick this form of corruption out. Our parents did control the corrupt ego in every man and they were able to give us the legacy we have allowed to be destroyed today. The club should not let the credibility or the work of the NFF look as child’s play or a fluke.
SHOULD HEARTLAND BE DISQUALIFIED?
It is a big surprise that Heartland was allowed to register for the 2021/2022 season in the first place, without having cleared the debts owed their former players. There is a fraud growing on in this section of the LMC. It isn’t fair to the name of the NFF, LMC, NPFL, CAF, FIFA, Fans, and football players around the globe. This is a disgrace to the entire Imo state and all clubs that are secretly been ran in this manner. Are we going to say Buhari is a bad leader or it’s APC vs PDP vs the others or it is Amaju Pinnick in this too? This is a sign of completely bad leadership. Clubs that are not able to clear the arrears of their old players are not allowed to come forward. That’s a basic rule all over the world.
CAN THE LMC BE CREDIBLE AGAIN?
The LMC should close its eyes and show the world they are giving the new NPFL a high standard. You must start from somewhere which is here. The investors and sponsors use this as a yardstick.
It is a total turnoff to investors. When clubs owe players FIFA places sanctions and it is quickly ratified. Why let Heartland drag the NPFL into this mess again and again?
I rest my case!
