NASARAWA UNITED SUFFER TOUGH AWAY LOSS AT REMO.

The Solid Miners suffered a disappointing 3-0 loss on the road against hosts, Remo Stars, at Remo Stars’ stadium, Ikenne, Ogun State, in the 2024/25 Nigeria Premier Football League match-day six tie on Sunday evening.

It’s a result that the team will hurriedly overlook and look forward to their next game.

After going into the break with scoreline at nil-nil, Remo Stars came out stronger in the reverse half, scoring three unanswered goals within seventeen minutes that left Nasarawa United struggling to catch up.

While the scoreline, courtesy of goals from Sikiru Alimi, Stanley Joseph and Ismail Sodiq, does not reflect it, United, however, showed some moments of brilliance and resilience, creating scoring opportunities, with Umar Ibrahim and Terdoo Shimagande quite unable to capitalize on them.

Around the backline, the Solid Miners faced significant pressure, with the Sky-Blues, as Remo Stars are nicknamed, taking advantage to covert their counter-attacking threats.

Technical Director, Kabir Dogo, while crediting Remo Stars for the win, said the loss will not define the season for the team, stating that the team will regroup, analyze the weak points and come back stronger.

“The team’s spirit remains unbroken, and we are eager to put this setback behind us as quickly as possible.

“We will focus on our upcoming home game during the midweek(16th October, 2024)against Abia Warriors, where we will look to regain our momentum and get back to winning ways.

“The game is just three days from today, and we are mapping out strategies ahead of it. We will work on our strategy, make adjustments, and ensure we are ready to take on the challenge.

“Our supporters and fans’ continued support means the world to us, and we cannot wait to get back on the pitch and make them proud.”

Sunday’s result sees United dropping to 13th position from six games, with six points, while Remo Stars move to the summit with fifteen points from similar number of games.
